All of our new build properties are designed as Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). But what does this mean in reality? Our NZEB properties are designed to have net zero energy consumption. This means the total amount of energy used by the building, on an annual basis, is equal to the amount of renewable energy created by the building.
We install technology such as air source heat pumps, high efficiency triple glazed windows, solar PV panels, mini wind turbines, solar battery storage, decentralized ventilation systems and rigid insulation to ensure that our properties contribute less overall greenhouse gas to the atmosphere during operations than similar non-NZE Buildings. All properties will also benefit from a home car charging port, to encourage electrical car use.
We do not connect natural gas to our properties, but instead connect only to the national grid as an emergency backup. However all our new build properties are designed to a SAP rating of 105A. This means our purchasers are actually creating 5% more energy than they need.
